Thanks to a "Small Cities" grant given to
Lower Township, the Fishing Creek School will be completely rehabilitated for public use in 2014. Watch our progress and stay
tuned for the grand opening, and our slate of public programs. Here's the latest news from the Press of Atlantic City regarding the restoration of the Fishing Creek School as a community
center and host for supporting Lower Township Elementary Educational Foundation programs.
Encouraged by Lower Township
Mayor Michael Beck, and Deputy Mayor Norris Clark, the Friends of the Fishing Creek School was established as a non-profit
membership organization dedicated to restoring the historic schoolhouse and developing it as a community center for the benefit of Lower Township and the surrounding community. As the only remaining one room schoolhouse in Lower Township, NJ, the Fishing Creek
School is on the National and State Historic Registers.
Our mission is the "restoration and preservation of the historic Fishing Creek School, in
keeping with our heritage, for various educational, recreational, and cultural programs, all for the benefit of Lower
Township and the surrounding community."
