On December 7, 2009, at the regular Lower Township City Council meeting, Mayor Mike Beck introduced the Friends of the
Fishing Creek School (FOFCS) to City Council. FOFCS presented a proposal to restore the roof, and allow FOFCS to set up community
programs and events. The Council, which leases the property from the State of New Jersey, voted unanimously to partner with
FOFCS, help restore the school, and open the school for community events. As of January
2011, we have received over $4,500 in donations from community members. Our goal is to raise another $7,500, so we may repair
the bricks, hang the original front door, and repair windows, as well as paint the exterior with primer and two coats of paint
(donated by Anco Home Center)...we want it open to the community for the summer of 2011
